verse 5:  A reminder of truth the audience already knows.  

verse 6:  Even angels are punished.  

verse 7:  Powerful images.  

verse 8:  The arrogance of people.  

verse 10:  The human condition.  

verse 11:  The original heretic.  

verse 12&13:  More images to drive the point home.  

verse 14-16:  Not directed at “struggling followers.”  

verse 17:  Jude’s encouragement.  

verse 20:  What believers are to do.

John 6:37 - Who did Jesus drive away?

John 6:41 - Grumbling John 6:44-  Controversy

John 6:52 - Grumbling becomes sharply argueing.

John 6:68 - Peter says “we believe” Transubstantiation - literal or figurative

“Not all who think they’re getting in, do”

Matthew 7: 21-23  – Doing the will of God vs saying you do the will of God.  

– Jesus chose from his humility to react and interact with people  

– 3 interpretations of claims to Jesus     

- truth as they perceive it.     

 - exaggeration     

- lying   A central issue in Scripture

- What must I do to inherit eternal life?  

Romans 9:30 - 10:13 Makes it clear what must be done.  

Romans 10:3 - The human condition.  

Matthew 19:16-30 - Jesus targets the man’s problem.  

–  Submit to God’s reality; not fit him to yours.  

James 2:14-26 - Faith Vs. Deeds   What does it take to get in:  

Romans - Confess with mouth, belive in heart Matthew

- Put God first; driven by a heart change James

- Faith with evidence Sermon on the Mount

- Is it good fruit or not?   Mark 9:38-41

- Things done in Jesus’ name are not wrong.
